What I’m reading

If I ever get the time and know-how, I want to create a “link dump” for our site, where people can log in and post links to things they find on the internet that are interesting.
Until then, I’ll just post them here in the normal front page spot, and I’d encourage everyone reading this to do the same. When your time and attention is limited, as I’m sure is the case with many of us, it’s nice to have a place that just shows you the best and/or most interesting things on the Internet.

So, here’s what I’m reading:
Washington Post: Bank Records Secretly Tapped. Suprising? No. Outrageous? Yes. But just like the story of the frog in the slowly boiling water, America won’t realize that all their rights have been stripped until they’re all gone.

Salt Lake Tribune: Jeffrey Nielson Op-Ed. Since I missed this one in the paper, and I’ve heard all about the controversy, I figured I better look it up. In case you’re living under a rock- this is the BYU professor who was fired for stating that it just might be contrary to the moral values of the LDS church that the leaders support the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. I originally found the link here: blurbomat.com

Discovery News: Serious Study: Immaturity Levels Rising. I’m convinced there’s a tie between conservatives and psychological neoteny, I just can’t pinpoint it now. Any ideas?

The way the condition is described, I think it is more of a problem with liberals. We just keep our open and flexible minds and can’t bring ourselves to say, “No, you’re full of crap, you’re a threat to reason, freedom, and survival, and I’m going to stop you by whatever means necessary.” Conservatives have no problem taking a stand, and the result has been that we’ve had our butts kicked for 30 years.

  2. Jeremiah Says:

BUT…. as Al Franken said so well in “Lying Liars”: “[Conservatives] love America the way a four-year-old loves her mommy. Liberals love America like grown-ups. To a four-year-old, everything Mommy does is wonderful and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad. Grown-up love means acutally understanding what you love, taking the good with the bad, and helping your loved one grow.”

I guess this is just the basis for me believing that conservatives can’t grow up. That and the fact that a loose nipple freaks them out. But I see your point, rifek.
