WISH SHE WOULD RUN FOR PRESIDENT!

I received this email yesterday! It amazes me and scares me that this sentiment not only exists but persists among our citizens. My response to this follows at the bottom….. Carla

Very scary sentiment stated here. I of course agree with her anger and frustration, but all of her “I don’t care’s” are actually an ignition source for continuing recruitment and anger towards our country. Our fight belongs with those who terrorized us on 9-11. There was not one Iraqi involved. Period. As long as we occupy and decimate their country in the name of avenging 9-11 the motivation for jihad will grow…or is it that we are freeing the oppressed Iraqi people? or is it WMDS, or Saddam Hussein…whatever it is we’re doing in Iraq according to the latest NIE report, Al Qaeda is every bit as functional and organized as it was prior to our losing 3774 soldiers, 27,766 wounded, and over 70,000 Iraqis as well. About Abu Ghraib… she says she doesn’t care that Iraqis were tortured and humiliated, she doesn’t obviously understand the consequence of which put our own soldiers at further risk as the anger foments. This email scares me. It scares me that people out there in our country still feel this way. Rule of law saves the day, standing by our founding principals will save us. Holding true to the Geneva conventions, and disavowing Gitmo and prisoner torture will help us to heal our wounded souls. She doesn’t care about the Koran? Well, she should. What if that were her bible? I’m not defending zealotry of any kind…..but to defend our motives as noble, our outrage as justified, and deny any other human being the same is an arrogance of power that is a cause of the continuing quagmire we find ourselves in. To answer her question, NO, we are not fighting the war on terror. Afghanistan is floundering, the Taliban is resurging, the poppy crops are out of control, Bin Laden continues to live and propagandize (remember him wanted dead or alive?) and we are stuck in the middle of according to Gen Petraeus just yesterday ” a fight for resources and power between rivaling sects”….this all has nothing to do with an effective war on terror. I would like to ask her one question…..would she place a wager on her own loved one’s life whether or not the “surge” will work? I would venture to guess, her kids and her family are all nice and snug in their homes in NJ, and she doesn’t have a clue. Little does she know, that even though this war is being fought by our Army, the effects will be felt by every citizen for generations to come. We should all be scared of propaganda like this…..her zealotry reminds me of someone else…who is that? Oh yeah….Saddam comes to mind. So does Ahmadinejad, Bin Laden himself, even Bush for that matter. Thinking ones actions, no matter the cost are justified in the name of their religion or their anger is very scary indeed.
