The voucher conversation we hosted last Friday went off pretty well, I have to say. Heather played the part of MC and did a damn fine job of it. Patrick Byrne showed up surprisingly early with a decent sized entourage shortly behind him (I’m assuming most of the early people were friends of his, since liberals are rarely early). By 7:00 the room was packed.
The Q&A wound up turning into more of a debate than we had hoped, but Pat Shea set the tone early and it actually worked pretty well, other than we probably didn’t get as many questions in as we would have liked.
Some of my favorite bloggers were there too, including Bob Aagard from The World, According to Me (although I didn’t get a chance to talk to him); Rob Miller from the UTAH AMICUS; Cliff Lyon from One Utah (who’s always interesting to talk to); and Marshall of Wasatch Watcher, who immediately approached Patrick Byrne with a magazine article he brought along. And those are just the bloggers I recognize.
Even though it was a packed house, I didn’t see anyone that I knew to be still on the fence about the issue. I wish those few could have been there, but overall I was glad we did it even if it didn’t help anyone make their voting decision.
