Drinking Liberally IS meeting tonight (Dec. 28th)

The regular weekly e-mail is failing to send, so we’ll post it here instead. Just wanted to let everyone know that we will still be meeting tonight, so see you there!

If your 2007 New Year’s resolution was to come out to Drinking Liberally a bit more… well, liberally - this Friday, December 28th is your last chance! Come drink, chat politics, and meet new friends for the new year at the Piper Down (6:30-9:30; 1492 S State St).

Have you had an idea for Drinking Liberally or wanted to get more involved in politics but were unsure where to begin? Friday, January 4th from 5:30-6:30 is your first chance. With a new and exciting year in politics ready to kick off in Iowa, Drinking Liberally SLC is resolving to increase its political footprint in 2008. We want to increase our visibility while increasing our activism (within the boundaries established by DL national) and we encourage all of our members to join us.

Throughout the past 30 months, our membership has grown to 500 progressive individuals. We have met some incredible people with many talents and ideas for changing the political atmosphere in this red state. We want your help implementing your ideas.

Drinking Liberally SLC is going to reserve the first Friday of each month from 5:30-6:30 (just prior to our regular meet-up) as an open planning session. Members who have an interest in becoming more politically active can join us in planning and carrying out political opportunities for our membership. This can include arranging guest speakers, arranging special events such as movie screenings or attendance at local liberal events, or even just sharing information and opportunities from committees and groups you already work with. We are also looking to expand our Living Liberally family by officially starting an Eating Liberally and Screening Liberally chapter here in Salt Lake. But we can’t do it without you, so let us know if you want more information.

Let’s make 2008 a great year for political change - both nationally and locally.

See you all Friday,
Heather and Jeremiah
