Only 3 percent after 5 years

Operation Truth

This week marks the fifth anniversary of the war in Iraq, but you might not have seen much about it on TV recently. Just 3% of the news in February was dedicated to the war and fewer than one in three Americans know how many American troops have died in Iraq. Believe it or not, a study just released by the Pew Research Center shows that press coverage of the war is at the lowest point since the war began.
Please take a minute now to sign an open letter to the media and demand that major networks increase their coverage of the Iraq war.
The economy and the presidential campaigns are both important stories, but news of the ongoing wars shouldn’t fall by the wayside. The media must demonstrate that they can walk and chew gum at the same time. Over 80% of Americans are aware that Oprah Winfrey endorsed Senator Barack Obama for president, while just 28% know how many troops have died in Iraq- even though we are rapidly approaching 4,000 casualties. An unprecedented detachment between the American public and the men and women at war makes the media’s coverage of the conflicts more vital than ever. Just because the coverage has waned doesn’t mean our troops aren’t facing daily dangers or major issues once they return home.
Men and women continue to serve in Iraq, though you might not realize that just from watching the news. Please sign this open letter and honor the sacrifice of those who have served in the past five years by making sure they remain in the public eye.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely, Paul Rieckhoff Iraq Veteran Executive Director Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America

Let’s Show Congress How We Feel

Iraq Fax-in: Let’s Show Congress How We Feel
March 19 marks the 5th Anniversary of Bush’s disastrous invasion and occupation of Iraq - yet there is no end in sight.
The costs so far are staggering: 4,000 young Americans killed, tens of thousands maimed… 1 million Iraqis killed, millions maimed… $562 billion in tax dollars stolen from our children… $3 trillion cost to our economy through veterans care, weapons replacement, higher oil prices, and the collapsing dollar. All that in just 5 years!
We elected a Democratic Congress in 2006 to bring our troops home, but they keep giving Bush blank checks. Incredibly, Congress will soon vote on another $102 billion blank check.
On this 5th Anniversary, it is time for everyone who hates this occupation to do something about it. And we’re making it as simple and effective as we can.
We’re calling it the Iraq Fax-In. It’s like a sit-in, only you can do it from home. http://iraqfaxin.com
1. Fax an image to Congress that visually expresses how you feel about the invasion and occupation of Iraq. We’ve posted a few ideas, but we welcome all of yours! http://iraqfaxin.com
2. Email your Representatives by signing our “Out of Iraq” petition on the right side here: http://iraqfaxin.com
And thanks for all you do to make the world a better place.
_______
Fox Attacks Obama
It’s no surprise that FOX has been at it again: smearing, distorting, attacking Obama. What is infuriating and requires IMMEDIATE ACTION is that so many in the media have been catching the FOX virus and spreading it. By way of a cure, we bring you the next installment in our highly successful FOX Attacks series. Together, we have battled them effectively, halted their fake debates, and put pressure on Bill O’Reilly for his attacks on homeless vets. And so far, over 6 million people have seen FOX Attacks.
Watch the video, send it to your friends, and then demand the media stop spreading the FOX virus. Let them know they can’t keep parroting FOX’s smears against Barack Obama without hearing from us. Sign the petition, and we’ll make sure the heads of all the mainstream media’s news divisions see it. You can even express your outrage visually by including your picture.

Resist in March
On March 19, peace and justice organizations will hold actions around the country and in Washington, DC to demand an end to the funding of the occupation, along with the impeachment of the president and vice president who launched it. For the full range of activities, see http://resistinmarch.org

with CREDO Mobile.

Dear Friend,
Five years ago, as I marched to protest a U.S. attack on Iraq, I did not imagine that our troops would still be there today, with the death toll rising, a country destroyed and our treasury leaking billions per month.
But now, on the anniversary of this disaster, I’m as determined as ever to do what I can to stop it. And by switching mobile providers, you can help stop it too.
I’m Michael Kieschnick, cofounder of CREDO Mobile, the only mobile phone company in America that has worked actively to end the Iraq war since its start. We’ve donated over $2 million to nonprofits supporting peace. We’ve marched in protests, organized meetings with elected officials and raised money for antiwar groups. And we’ll continue to do those things. Where do those other phone companies stand on Iraq? AT&T® and Verizon® give millions to Republican politicians who support the war. The two companies combined make hundreds of millions of dollars a year in defense contracts. Some may describe these phone companies as pro-war. And their number one customer might just be the White House.
Take a look and see how we stack up.
Where does your phone company stand on… CREDO Mobile AT&T Verizon the war in Iraq: We’ve opposed the war from the start and donated over $2 million to nonprofits supporting peace, such as: Iraq Veterans Against the War, Veterans for Peace, CodePink and the Ruckus Society. Contributes more money to political campaigns than almost any other company - mostly to Republicans who supported the war. Made more than half a billion dollars in defense-related revenue in 2006. spying on Americans: We donate to the ACLU to stop warrantless wiretapping. Widely reported to have aided the Bush administration’s warrantless spying on American citizens. your freedom of speech: We support First Amendment defenders like the Electronic Frontier Foundation, ACLU and Democracy Now. Fighting for the right to block internet content it doesn’t approve of. Blocked text messages from NARAL Pro-Choice America (until forced to allow them).
The choice is clear. If you have a cellphone from AT&T or Verizon, you can keep sending them your money and supporting them - and Bush. Or you can join CREDO Mobile.
CREDO Mobile is brought to you by your friends at Working Assets. We’re the only phone company as committed as you are to ending the Iraq war. That’s why, on March 19, I along with many other CREDO members and tens of thousands of others will mark its fifth anniversary by attending vigils with MoveOn.org around the country to bring our troops home.
Please think about joining us - and joining CREDO Mobile, a phone company you can be proud of. Click here to learn more or call 877.76.CREDO (877.762.7336) to talk to someone right now about making the switch. Mention code 300193 so they’ll know I sent you.
Sincerely, Michael Kieschnick Cofounder and President CREDO Mobile and Working Assets
P.S. In case you’re wondering, with CREDO Mobile you’ll get the same quality coverage, phones and plans you enjoy from any major provider.

I encourage you to take a moment to watch this film. Our kids are still fighting and dying. To quote Springsteen…..”who will be the last to die for a lie? Carla

This person needs a job. This individual seeks an executive position. He will be available in January 2009, and is willing to relocate. (Please don’t skip the last section!)
RESUME
GEORGE W. BUSH 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington, DC 20520
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Law Enforcement: I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver’s license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been “lost” and is not available.
Military: I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam.
College: I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a cheerleader.
PAST WORK EXPERIENCE : I ran for U.S. Congress and lost. I began my career in the oil business in Midland,Texas in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn’t find any oil in Texas. The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.
I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money.
With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry (including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected governor of Texas.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS:
I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America.
I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in borrowed money.
I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American history.
With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida , and my father’s appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President of the United States, after losing by over 500,000 votes.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT:
I am the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record.
I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one billion dollars per week.
I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury.
I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history.
I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period.
I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period.
I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the U.S. stock market. In my first year in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs and that trend continues.
I’m proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history. My “poorest millionaire,” Condoleezza Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her.
I set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips by a U.S. President.
I am the all- time U.S . and world record -holder for receiving the most corporate campaign donations.
My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best friends, Kenneth Lay, presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy fraud in U.S. history, Enron.
My political party used Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to assure my success with the U.S. Supreme Court during my election decision.
I have protected my friends at Enron and Halliburton against investigation or prosecution. More time and money was spent investigating the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest corporate rip-offs in history. I presided over the biggest energy crisis in U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed.
I presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history.
I changed the U.S. policy to allow convict ed criminals to be awarded government contracts.
I appointed more convicted criminals to my administration than any President in U.S. history.
I created the Ministry of Homeland Security, the largest bureaucracy in the history of the United States Government.
I’ve broken more international treaties than any President in U.S. history.
I am the first President in U.S. history to have the United Nations remove the U.S. from the Human Rights Commission.
I withdrew the U.S. from the World Court of Law.
I refused to allow inspector’s access to U.S. “prisoners of war” detainees and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention.
I am the first President in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 US election).
I set the record for fewest numbers of press conferences of any President since the advent of television.
I set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one-year period. After taking off the entire month of August, I presided over the worst security failure in U.S. history.
I garnered the most sympathy ever for the U.S. after the World Trade Center attacks and less than a year later made the U.S. the most hated country in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history.
I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously protest me in public venues (15 million people), shattering the record for protests against any person in the history of mankind.
I am the first President in U.S. history to order an unprovoked, pre-emptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so against the will of the United Nations, the majority of U.S. Citizens and the world community.
I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in duty benefits for active duty troops and their families in wartime.
In my State of the Union Address, I lied about our reasons for attacking Iraq and then blamed the lies on our British friends.
I am the first President in history to have a majority of Europeans (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and security.
I am supporting development of a nuclear “Tactical Bunker Buster,” a WMD.
I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden to justice.
RECORDS AND REFERENCES:
All records of my tenure as governor of Texas are now in my father’s library, sealed and unavailable for public view.
All records of SEC investigations into my insider trading and my bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view.
All records or minutes from meetings that I, or my Vice-President, attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public review. I specified that my sealed documents will not be available for 50 years.
