Tomorrow night we’ll be kicking off our Living Liberally National Conference weekend. Join us at the Piper Down starting at 6:30, where we’ll be joined by the leaders of the national Living Liberally network, as well as hosts from chapters around the country (including Heather!). Drinking Liberally co-founder Justin Krebs will be our guest speaker, talking about his new book “538 Ways to Live, Work and Play Like a Liberal” (featured in the Weekly Standard of all places).

Then Saturday night we’ll have our 3rd annual party/fundraiser at Brian’s warehouse located at 1130 Richards Street (between Main and West Temple). Parking is limited but TRAX is close by at 13th South. If you drive, park around back off West Temple – it’s behind the Associated General Contractors building.

Saturday night will feature special guests Pat Bagley, stand-up comedy with Christopher Stephenson, and improv with Toy Soup. Entrance for Saturday night is $15 which includes 2 drink tickets (additional tickets are $2). If you bring a big batch of Utah-themed treats you can get a $10 discount and be entered in the contest for “Most Utahish” food. Bring friends and get free raffle tickets!

Some of the people who’ll be flying in are:

• Justin Krebs is co-founder and a national director of Living Liberally. He is a political organizer in New York City, and a founder and Artistic Director of The Tank, a non-profit venue for performance and public affairs.
• Katrina Baker is a Living Liberally national director and partnered with Justin and Matt in the fall of 2003 to expand Drinking Liberally outside of New York City. She currently practices law in New York
• Matthew O’Neill is a Living Liberally national director and Emmy-award-winning (HBO’s “Baghdad ER”) journalist and filmmaker.

There’s no meetup this Friday, BUT we’re just a week away from welcoming liberals from all over the country to our fair red state, as the Living Liberally National Conference kicks off next Friday, September 24th.

The conference itself is intended for chapter hosts and leadership, but our evening activities will be open to all. And we hope you all attend! Click here for more info.

On Friday, September 24th we’ll be meeting at the Piper Down for our opening reception and happy hour. Justin Krebs, co-founder of Living Liberally, will also be our guest speaker and will be signing his book, “538 Ways to Live, Work and Play like a Liberal”.

Then on Saturday the 25th, we’ll be having a party with special guests Pat Bagley, stand-up comedy with Christopher Stephenson, and improv with Toy Soup. There are two Drinking Liberally meetups this month and this week IS one of them. This Friday the 10th is our next meetup, and then the meetup on the 24th will be the kick-off to the Living Liberally National Convention!

So… have you ever wanted to smuggle a liberal past the Zion curtain? Now’s your chance! We’re looking for people to help transport our guests that weekend, as they fly in on the 24th, from the hotel to Piper Down on Friday night, from the hotel to Brian’s warehouse on saturday night, and back to the airport on Sunday. If you can help with any of these, please let us know.

Oh, and if there’s anything else you can think that might help make this conference great, like maybe you have hookups to free local swag, let us know by replying to this email.
