Tomorrow night we meet in the Temple Bar (back room) of Piper Down (1492 South State Street) from 6:30-9:30. We will have Nate Keyvani & Christian Kooring from the Utah chapter of NORML speaking and doing a Q&A. NORML is a nonprofit lobbying organization working to legalize marijuana, stop arrests of smokers, provide educational research, and legal information on marijuana. So come on down and have a pint or two and discuss the war on drugs, marijuana laws and stick around and hang out and talk about current events. It’s always a good time each Friday and it just keeps getting better and better. I hope to see you there.

Thanks to Dave Morris for being our guest speaker last week, and to Paul Rolly and his wife Dawn House for speaking to us the previous week. It’s been a good few weeks of speakers, and this Friday should be another good one!

This Friday we’re welcoming Salt Lake City mayor Ralph Becker, who will be talking about his plans to continue to move Salt Lake City forward with progressive legislation, and his philosophy and methods for working successfully in the challenging political environment that is Utah.

Also invited are Democratic County and State Party Candidates who will share a few words about why they are crazy enough to run for volunteer positions that offer the glamour of hard work, uphill battles and the distinct satisfaction of walking their talk!

It’ll likely be a packed house, so get there early if you want a seat. We’ll be in the back room of the Piper Down at 6:30, with Mayor Becker speaking around 7:15. After his Q&A, we’ll have the other candidates get up and introduce themselves – somewhere around 8:00 or so.
