Hello everyone!

It looks like Summer has finally arrived. But don’t fret. Our commitment to hold Drinking Liberally every week remains strong. We will have our regularly scheduled meeting this Friday, July 1st in the back bar at Piper Down (1492 South State St.) from 6:30 until 9:30 PM.

There is quite a bit to talk about:

The Utah State archeologists were fired but the Governor claims it was not retaliation.

The LDS Church instructed its leaders to stay out of politics .

Jon Huntsman and Mitt Romney are running for President.

President Obama sort of took the gloves off over the stalled debt ceiling negotiations.

Stephen Colbert now runs a Super PAC .

Michele Bachman is crazy.

We hope to see everyone there and if not, enjoy your Independence Day! I recommend lots of beer, BBQ and small colorful explosive devices.

I’m sure there are a number of newsworthy items to talk about tomorrow night at Drinking Liberally that aren’t about Anthony’s weiner, but like usual we’ll probably run the gamut of conversation items. Join us tomorrow in the back room of the Piper Down at 6:30.

Hello everyone! We will be having our regular meeting tomorrow at 6:30-9:30 PM in the back room at Piper Down. There is no guest speaker this week but we have our candidate forum at our meeting on the 17th to look forward to.

Some conversation starters for this week:

Mitt Romney announced his candidacy for President on Thursday.

Jason Chaffetz is planning on running against Orin Hatch.

Local media is now referring to downtown construction as “The Becker Building Boom”.

May saw record rainfall in Utah and a record number of tornadoes nationwide but there are still climate change skeptics out there.

The rapture has apparently been postponed to October.

Osama Bin Laden is still dead.
