End of 2016 Drinking Liberally

Join us tomorrow for the last Drinking Liberally of 2016!

This week we can talk about Obama’s designation of Bears Ears as a national monument, which has got Chaffetz and Bishop huffing and puffing and blowing smoke from their own ears.

In national news, there’s the escalating friction between the Obama administration and Israel’s Netanyahu. There’s Obama’s punishment of Russia for their cyber-attacks to influence the US presidential election. Russia’s response is that they’ll retaliate. Meanwhile, Trump says it’s time to “move on to bigger and better things”. And it would be a shame to not talk about the notable deaths of the week; not for the sadness of their deaths but for the inspiration these people provided. And one other positive discussion point, the promising cease-fire announced in Syria.

Of course there’s a whole YEAR to talk about, so please join us in showing 2016 the door. And toast to a better 2017!

Jason, Christian,
Jeremiah, Laura

Drinking Wassaily

Hello holiday liberals,

We WILL be meeting this Friday, despite the holidays this weekend. I mean, you probably need a break from all the holiday intensity anyway.

We’ll talk about all the fun things going on, like the electoral college formalizing their vote for the tax-cheating millionaire, despite 2.9M more people voting for his top rival. If you include the people who voted for neither, it’s amazing that he’s calling it a “landslide”. Or we could talk about this reckless call for a new nuclear arms race (yay peace on earth!), or his repeated call for a ban on Muslims (hooray good will to all!). Let’s see, there’s also the attack on the Christmas market in Berlin; the assassination of the Russian ambassador to Turkey, the deadly explosion in a Mexico City fireworks market, or the evacuation of Aleppo.

So please join us tomorrow and help us on the holiday cheer part,

Jeremiah, Laura,
Jason, Christian

Drinking Liberally Friday December 16th

Howdy Ho Drinking Liberals,

Join us this Friday the 16th for our regular meetup in the back bar at Piper Down 1492 s. State St. starting at 6pm.

So much to talk about, with Lord Cheeto and his never ending deplorable appointees. Just when i think they can’t get worse, they do. We have the CIA and multiple national security agencies saying Russia hacked the DNC in order to sway the election and get Trump elected and that Putin was personally directing them. Yet Trump says they can’t prove that and asks why they weren’t discussed before the elections even though he personally debated Clinton about it just weeks before. China has issued a veil threat to him that, ‘one China’ not a ‘bargaining chip’ due to his call to Taiwan. Then there is the sad and devastating news of the fall of Aleppo.

So many things to discuss, so get down to Piper this Friday and have a drink or two of your favorite beverage and lets discuss the weeks events.

See you Friday night,
Christian, Laura,
Jason, Jeremiah

Drinking Liberally this Friday

Hello liberals! Hopefully everyone celebrated Repeal Day properly and responsibly on Monday. It’s especially fun to celebrate here since it was Utah that tipped the scales toward repealing prohibition.

This week we’re meeting at our regular time (6:00pm) and our usual place (Piper Down, 1492 S. State) for another round of Drinking Liberally and talking about the issues of the day. We might even break out a Presidential trivia game.

So join us this Friday!

Christian, Jason

Drinking Liberally Meetup, Friday December 2

Hello everyone!

We hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving. Please join us tomorrow evening for our regularly scheduled gathering in the back room at Piper Down (1492 South State Street) from 6:00-9:00 PM.

One thing we may wish to talk about is Trump’s growing list of Cabinet picks. I know the word has become overused as late but doesn’t it fit the definition of “basket of deplorables” perfectly? I mean statistically, doesn’t he have to eventually accidentally pick someone decent and qualified?

Or we can talk about how Trump “saved” 1000 Carrier air conditioning jobs in Indianapolis. Isn’t 1000 jobs less than half the manufacturing jobs Carrier was moving to Mexico? Didn’t the GOP heavily criticize the Obama administration for using incentives to try and influence industry? How much do you want to bet the $7 Million is only the tip of the iceberg and Trump offered a whole lot more that will be slowly revealed in time? He also provided a blueprint for every other midsize company in America on how to secure tax breaks above and beyond the already corporate friendly environment. They just have to threaten to outsource and the Trump administration will give them everything they could ask for.

In local news, Lamb’s grill may close down entirely due to the DABC and the asinine rules the Utah legislature imposes on businesses that sell legal alcoholic beverages to consenting adults. Small government, right?

Also, Fidel Castro died. Depending on the source, he was either an anti-imperialist hero or a worse dictator than Hitler and Stalin combined. I suspect the truth is somewhere in between but that discussion probably won’t be feasible for another couple of decades.

Anyway, we hope you will join us tomorrow evening!

The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.
