Drinking Liberally Friday January 19th

Howdy Drinking Liberals,

Join us for our regular Friday night meetup in the back bar at Piper Down starting at 6pm. I forgot to type this up earlier and so I’m typing up while mobile on my phone so this email will be short and forgive any mistakes.

As usual we have a lot to discuss, Friday we face a potential government shutdown…again. Trump is of course top of the tabloid news with paying hush money to silence an affair with a pornstar 10+ years ago. Doctors are saying some of his physical results are false, especially his weight. He is trying to legally allow religious descrimination from doctors. We all know he’s going to do more crazy stuff by the time I type this up and you all read it.

Come down Friday night and let’s discuss the weeks events while I sip a drink or two of whatever our favorite beverage is.

See you tomorrow night,
Christian, Laura,
Jason, Jeremiah

Drinking Liberally Friday

Utah House Speaker Greg Hughes has said he won’t seek re-election at the end of his term, so he may run for governor or congress, or go to work in the White House. https://www.sltrib.com/news/politics/2018/01/10/utah-house-speaker-greg-…

I don’t know about you guys, but this analysis on the Fusion GPS transcript that Sen Diane Feinstein released is the craziest thing I’ve read in a long time: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/950884746082562048.html Of course I haven’t read (the now NYT bestseller) Fire and Fury yet.

Come spend some “Executive Time” with your stable genius friends at the Piper Down tomorrow starting at 6!

Drinking Liberally Meetup January 5th

Hello everyone!

Please join us tomorrow, Friday January 5th, for our first meetup of 2018, in the back room at Piper Down (1492 South State Street) from 6:00-9:00 PM. Last week we had a pretty good turnout with several first time attendees. Let’s keep the ball rolling into 2018!

There are a few things we can talk about:

While most of the rest of the country is experiencing extreme weather events, we are in the middle of another multi-day inversion and a Winter with very little snowfall. If anyone ever gets the chance to explain climate change to the President this article may help him understand that this too is a result of global warming.

Speaking of the President, the bromance with Steve Bannon seems to be over. While the President is trying to issue a cease and desist, the tell-all book’s publisher is moving up the publication date. I think the entire staff needs to strap on a helmet for this one!

Of local significance, the Crypt Keeper…I mean Orin Hatch has decided not to run for re-election! So of course Mittens Romney is scrambling to change his residency status from Massachusetts to Utah as fast as possible and it looks like the seat is his, if he wants it. (Sorry Jenny!)

Join your host, Jason, this week to discuss these topics and whatever else comes up. We look forward to seeing everyone there tomorrow evening!
