Hello everyone!

School is out, the Downtown Farmer’s Market starts up this weekend and we are having a regularly scheduled Drinking Liberally gathering in the back room at Piper Down (1492 S. State St.) from 6:30-9:30 PM. Join us for a drink or two and we can discuss one of the plethora of mostly manufactured scandals the GOP is convinced spells Obama’s doom. There’s:

Bengazi, the non-scandal that won’t die.

The IRS Scandal, the real scandal that the GOP is managing to squander by trying to tie it to the White House. Rachel Maddow does a great job debunking this one.

The new NSA non-scandal that just reminds us that we gave the government permission to spy on all of us with the Patriot Act and its re-authorization.

Then in local scandals there is John Swallow the gift that just keeps giving. Here is a good explanation by our friend Bryan Schott on why this isn’t going away anytime soon. Swallow’s buddy Shurtliff is getting in on the scandal attention too.

Also, Michelle Obama was mean to a heckler, Whole Foods is English Only and you are legally allowed to murder a prostitute in Texas. Unbelievable!

This Friday, June 22nd, we’ll have Tim Chambless – Department of Political Science at the University of Utah – with a Preview on the Primaries.

Many of you already know of Tim Chambless, and maybe you’ve heard him speak at Drinking Liberally before. But for those who don’t know, Tim is an Associate Professor/Lecturer for the Department of Political Science at the University of Utah and Academic Outreach Coordinator for the Hinckley Institute of Politics. Tim recently partnered with former U.S. Senator Bob Bennett with a U of U student seminar.

Tim always draws a crowd, so get to the Piper Down early if you want decent parking and a good seat!
