Salt Lake City Drinking Liberally

Promoting democracy in Utah one pint at a time.

About Our Members

As we crept up on 400 members in March 2007, we created a survey to find out a little more about our members. A common question we get from people who haven’t been out to a meet-up is “What is the average age of your group?”  We didn’t ask age in our survey, and so it’s kind of hard to know.  A wild guess though: 36.

We asked for suggestions for guest speakers and Rocky Anderson, a past speaker, was by far the most suggested. Others included local political and religious leaders, as well as representatives of various cultural activism groups. Some national-level speakers were suggested, including Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Barack Obama, Ann/Mann Coulter, Cindy Sheehan, Superman, and Keith Olbermann. One person was going to pray about it and get back to us with suggestions.

So thanks to everyone who participated in the survey! The survey will continue to be active at Drinking Liberally SLC survey, however the results seem to be pretty clear with 81 people responding.

"It is precisely because it is fashionable for Americans to know no science, even though they may be well educated otherwise, that they so easily fall prey to nonsense. They thus become part of the armies of the night, the purveyors of nitwittery, the retailers of intellectual junk food, the feeders on mental cardboard, for their ignorance keeps them from distinguishing nectar from sewage."
