Well it happened. What we feared would happen but were hoping wouldn’t. Yet another conservative man was seated to the Supreme Court for a lifetime appointment despite serious allegations against him. Republicans screeched and hollered and could not believe that anyone would question this man’s god-given right to this job. And when they secured the votes, they were overjoyed and smug. Now they’ve begun a whole campaign to rewrite how it all went down, claiming the Democrats were doing nothing more than orchestrating a partisan witch-hunt. And they know partisan witch-hunts.

So… what now? Polls show that Republican voters are energized after this fight, likely because conservative media have been spinning it as an attack on a god-fearing righteous man all along. Are you helping campaigns you believe in? Do you want to help campaigns but don’t know how? Come to Drinking Liberally this Friday starting at 6pm and let’s make the connections needed to start the investment in better representation in our future!

The Kavanaugh nomination rolls forward, providing GOP Senators ample opportunity to put their footsies in their mouths. Our own Orin Hatch managed to slut shame one of the judge’s accusers by publishing a letter that outlined her sexual habits that are entirely separate from any accusation.

The Trump clan may be guilty of fraud and tax evasion to the tune of half a Billion dollars, going back decades. I am shocked! Next you will tell me Rick’s allows gambling on the premises!

In local news, Mayor Biskupski has her first challenger as Stan Penfold announced he is running against her in the race that is still more than a year away.

Hello Everyone!

Hopefully you all enjoyed the Labor Day weekend and took a moment to appreciate all that organized labor has done to make life better for the average worker.

Join us tomorrow, Friday September 7th, from 6:00-9:00 PM for our regularly scheduled meetup in the back bar at Piper Down (1492 South State Street) where we will have a lot to talk about!

For example, as excerpts trickled out from Bob Woodward’s new book, Fear, detailing the dumpster fire that is the Trump West Wing an anonymous op-ed written by a senior staffer was published in the New York Times that stated the President’s staff is ignoring his orders, obstructing his agenda, and basically doing everything they can to contain him. There was even talking about invoking the 25th Amendment in order to remove Trump from office!

We can also talk about the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings. It is starting to look like his appointment is a foregone conclusion that will swing SCOTUS firmly to the far Right for the foreseeable future. But we can always hope that maybe something will peel a couple of GOP Senators with some lingering vestige of integrity away from voting for confirmation.

In some good news, Alex Jones is no longer permitted on Twitter! And Colin Kaepernick is the face of a new Nike ad campaign despite the initial backlash from some people. Good for Nike! Now if they could only address the sweatshop and child labor issues…

This is a quick reminder that this week is the annual Saturday’s Voyeur trip! Hopefully everyone who plans on attending already has their ticket and plans on joining us for the pre-party in the green room tomorrow, August 10th, at 6:00.

For those of you who do not plan on going to the show, we will still have a regular, albeit smaller, meetup in the back room at Piper Down from 6:00-9:00 PM. Maybe we can talk about Space Force, Manafort’s latest, or Congressmen getting busted for inside trading…
