IMPORTANT NOTE: NEXT Friday the 15th, we’ll be meeting at the HandleBar in the Marmalade neighborhood, because Piper Down will be crazy for the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The address is 751 N 300 W.
So much happening at the state legislature as we head into the final week. The tax bill is dead, though it’s rumored that there will be a special session to address it.
And then just this afternoon a small group of young LGBT activists staged a sit-in in front of the Governor’s office to protest his approval of a substitute bill by Rep Lisonbee that greatly watered down the anti-conversion therapy bill (a good summary from Robert Gherke here). Their protest was fruitful – Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox came out and sat with them to talk, and in the end gave them a written apology from the Governor.
In national news, the big news this afternoon was about the first sentencing of Paul Manafort – just 47 months!
How do you feel about these things? Come to your weekly Liberal therapy session at the Piper Down this Friday at the Piper Down!
See you tomorrow!
